Applications are open for the CatalystTM sports medicine research mentorship program. This new collaboration between the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons will help develop the next generation of sports medicine-focused clinician scholars. CatalystTM is a first-of-its-kind research mentorship program that will provide a longitudinal educational experience encompassing online learning and direct access to senior research leaders to hone necessary skills and advance participants’ careers.

This unique program is designed for motivated professionals with 2-7 years in clinical practice looking to expand their familiarity with research design, build a collaborative research team, and develop the skills necessary to make meaningful contributions to state-of-the-art, sports medicine-related research.

Over 18 months, cohort members will complete an intensive online, self-paced curriculum and be mentored throughout by a senior surgeon with extensive research experience. The group will meet virtually every other month for topic-based discussions led by accomplished clinician scientists, and gather in person to discuss progress, troubleshoot challenges, and foster collaboration among peers. At the conclusion of the program, mentees will finalize a competitive funding proposal suitable for submission to federal funding mechanisms.

Applications are due May 29. The program will start July 1, 2025.
