AANA President John M. Tokish, M.D., FAANA had the honor of presenting Clayton Keller as a nominee for the 2022-2023 Bill Masterson Memorial Trophy on June 26.

The trophy is awarded annually to the NHL player who exemplifies perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to ice hockey. Keller serves as the right wing/forward for the NHL Arizona Coyotes. 

Dr. Tokish was on the ice shortly after Keller snapped his femur during a game in March 2022, and was able to successfully get Keller back on the ice six months after this life-altering injury. Keller in turn had the best season of his young career. Keller’s spirit and strength of will during his rehabilitation period made him an excellent candidate for the trophy.
