Focus Demonstrations

The Focus Demonstration sessions are intended to offer you a unique experience. To keep the atmosphere informal and hands-on, each demonstration is limited to 20 participants and 1 or 2 faculty members. This will allow a hands-on experience and easy dialogue with the "experts." The faculty members will discuss pearls and pitfalls for each procedure. Please register for the Focus Demo’s of your choice on the registration form. There is no registration fee for a Focus Demo. To register for these you must also register for another component of the Fall Course.NO CME CREDIT WILL BE GIVEN

Thursday, November 19 • 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm

Sponsor: MTF
Col. Thomas M. Deberardino, MD and Scott A. Rodeo, MD
Goal: Biologic augmentation can assist healing in the compromised rotator cuff repairs. Anchor fixation, platelet rich enhancement, and scaffolds will be demonstrated on properly selected patients.

Session C: Advances in Hip Arthroscopy
Sponsors: Smith & Nephew, Inc., Endoscopy
Marc J. Philippon, MD
Goal: Arthroscopic approaches to diagnose and treat hip labral and impingement problems will be presented. Pearls and pitfalls including patient selection, special instrumentation, and postoperative management will be discussed.

Session D: Advances in Rotator Cuff Repair, Innovative Uses of the "lateral row" Anchor
Sponsor: ConMed Linvatec
Jeffrey S. Abrams, MD and John Randle, MD
Goal: Rotator cuff repairs rely on secure fixation. Knotless anchors are demonstrated to increase footprint coverage to optimize tendon healing. Tear patterns, biceps tenodesis, and post operative management will be discussed.

Session E: Resurfacing the Femoral Condyle with Osteochondral Allograft Using RTI Biologics Instrumentation
Sponsor: RTI Biologics
Thomas R. Carter, MD
Goal: Osteochondral allograft will be demonstrated including osteochondral graft preparation, delivery and insertion using RTI Biologics instrumentation. Graft measurement, techniques, and postoperative programs will be discussed.

Friday, November 20 • 7:00 am - 8:30 am

Session F: Less Invasive ACL/PCL Retroconstruction with New FlipCutter System
Sponsor: Arthrex, Inc.
Robert T. Burks, MD
Goal: A novel mini-invasive technique to develop ACL bone tunnels using the minimally invasive drilling and instrumentation will be demonstrated. Pearls and pitfalls will be discussed.

Session G: Multiligament Knee Reconstruction Pearls and Pitfalls
Sponsor: Biomet Sports Medicine
Gregory C. Fanelli, MD
Goal: Combined ACL/PCL grafts will be demonstrated for the multiligament knee dislocation. Postoperative management and results will be discussed.

Session H: Pearls and Pitfalls: Anatomic ACL Reconstruction
Sponsor: Smith & Nephew, Inc., Endoscopy
Freddie H. Fu, MD
Goal: Indications, graft preparation, surgical technique, tunnel preparation, graft tensioning, and methods of fixation will be demonstrated.

Session I: Hip Arthroscopy for the Treatment of Femoral-Acetabular
Impingement (FAI) and Labral Tears
Sponsor: Arthrex, Inc.
Benjamin Domb, MD
Goal: The arthroscopic technique and approaches to labral pathology and femoral – acetabular impingement (FAI) will be demonstrated. Novel methods, devices and hip arthroscopy instrumentation will be presented.

Session J: Suture Management Tips and Techniques in Complex Arthroscopic Shoulder Procedures Utilizing Multiple Double-Loaded Suture Anchors
Sponsor: DePuy Mitek
Mark H. Getelman, MD and Thomas P. Knapp, MD
Goal: Improvement in soft tissue fixation to the glenoid and humerus is demonstrated using double loaded suture anchors. Techniques to place sutures and avoid entanglements will be presented.

Friday, November 20 • 12:45 pm – 2:15 pm

Session K: Knotless Double Row Rotator Cuff Repair Using the SpeedBridge® Technique
Sponsor: Arthrex, Inc.
Stephen S. Burkhart, MD and Anthony A. Romeo, MD
Goal: Secure rotator cuff fixation using a reinforced double row knotless system will be demonstrated. Indications, suture management techniques, and avoiding complications will be discussed.

Session L: Bankart Repair Suture Anchor Placement Simplified with the MicroMax FLEX System
Sponsor: Biomet Sports Medicine
E. Lyle Cain, Jr., MD
Goal: Placement of inferior anchors to stabilize a shoulder can be difficult. A unique system is introduced to optimize the introduction of glenoid suture anchors.

Session M: State of the Art Meniscus Repair Using the New
FasTFix® 360 Device and Biological Augmentation
Sponsor: MTF and Smith & Nephew, Inc., Endoscopy
Nicholas A. Sgaglione, MD
Goal: A completely enhanced and newly designed FasTFix® to more effectively use all-arthroscopic suture to repair meniscus tears will be demonstrated. Unique deployment, suture management and depth selection will be highlighted. Pearls including outside-in methods and approaches to complex tears will be shown. In addition, the use of a platelet-rich fibrin matrix will be presented and discussed.

Session N: Concept Surgical Demo: Rotator Cuff Repair
Sponsor: Stryker
Robert H. Bell, MD
Goal: Rotator cuff repairs require tissue mobilization and fixation. Proper tissue releases and suture anchors placement minimizes tension and improves rates of healing.

Session O: Hybrid Double Bundle Soft Tissue ACL Reconstruction Technique Using Stratis™
Sponsor: Covidien
Peter R. Kurzweil, MD
Goal: A novel approach to anatomic double bundle ACL surgery will be demonstrated. Precise methods and unique instrumentation will be highlighted to produce consistent and reliable results.

Saturday, November 21 • 7:00 am – 8:30 am

Session P: Knotless SLAP Bankart Repair Using Pushlocks® with
Horizontal Mattress Suture Configurations
Sponsor: Arthrex, Inc.
Neal S. ElAttrache, MD
Goal: Anatomic SLAP repairs will be demonstrated using mattress sutures and anchors. Patient selection, techniques and avoidance of complications will be discussed.
